Who We Are

Shift was co-founded by three cis-gender women from three different continents out of a shared sense of urgency for global professionals to better understand how systems of oppression, and specifically racism, shape our world and underpinned the then ongoing atrocities (DRC, Ethiopia, Palestine, Somalia, Sudan and many others) as well as within their own work. With a combined experience of more than 30 years in the aid sector, as well as their rich and diverse lived experiences, the Shift co-founders possess the unique skill of knowing the aid sector and its anti-racism and anti-oppression needs that are relevant to organizations in various sectors.

As humanitarian practitioners who were uniquely positioned to at once engage with some of the world’s largest global institutions as well as witness some of the most extreme examples of hunger and abject poverty, the co-founders felt compelled to dedicate their efforts to shifting power.

Our Vision is a world where racism and other systems of oppression are dismantled, therefore professional success, wellbeing, and hopes and dreams are no longer determined by race
